The angry ranting of an obscure, small-party politician, the first volume of Mein Kampf was virtually ignored when it was originally published in 1925. Likewise the second volume, which appeared in 1926. The book details Hitler's childhood, the "betrayal" of Germany in World War I, the desire for revenge against France, the need for lebensraum for the German people, and the means by which the National Socialist party can gain power. It also includes Hitler's racist agenda and his glorification of the "Aryan" race. The few outside the Nazi party who read it dismissed it as nonsense, not believing that anyone could--or would--carry out its radical, terrorist programs. As Hitler and the Nazis gained power, first party members and then the general public were pressured to buy the book. By the time Hitler became chancellor of the Third Reich in 1933, the book stood atop the German bestseller lists. Had the book been taken seriously when it was first published, perhaps the 20th century would have been very different.

Beyond the anger, hatred, bigotry, and self-aggrandizing, Mein Kampf is saddled with tortured prose, meandering narrative, and tangled metaphors (one person was described as "a thorn in the eyes of venal officials"). That said, it is an incredibly important book. It is foolish to think that the Holocaust could not happen again, especially if World War II and its horrors are forgotten. I am not here to criticize or defend Hitler, but as a historian, professor, author and a journalist, I am here to release a factual, fair, unbiased and objective analysis of this book, yet first to make a few points:

I. In America we don’t ban or censor information (like this book is banned in Germany), on the contrary we allow public to read Communist, Fascist, Islamic, Nazi and all other ideologies’ texts, and then judge for themselves about these texts. This is called freedom of information in a democracy.

II. If you avoid the public to read something, they will go to great extent to discover what it is that you avoid them to read. Every action causes a reaction, equal and to the same power, yet in the opposite direction.

III. As much as Hitler is criticized and hated in the West, yet he is admired and adored in many parts of the world such as East Europe (Romania, Bulgaria, and Hungary), Middle East (Turkey, Iran, and many Arab nations) and other areas. So it all depends who you speak to!

IV. Like it or not, Hitler is the architect and creator of a global political and economical ideology named National Socialism (Nazism) which any free thinker or curious person must study like he studies any other ideology.

V. To study and comprehend Nazism you must study and comprehend Mein Kampf (My Struggle) which is basically the Nazi Doctrine written by Adolf Hitler.

A Classic!

This is just a great book (witness how the few used copies are all going for higher than list). We have about 4 EMG/NCV atlas-type publications hanging around our EMG lab, but everybody reaches for the Perotto. It's been out of publication for a while, which caused many graduating residents to covet it (and some to copy it), but they just did a reprint in June so hopefully this will increase supply. The single most useful feature is the cross-sectional anatomy diagrams. I can tell at a glance how deep I need to go, and what high-value targets, so to speak, that I might hit if I miss the mark (arteries, veins, that sort of thing). Love it!

This is the best EMG book in the lab. It breaks each muscle down by its root, plexus, and nerve. It describes how to find the muscle and activate it. The pictures are invaluable! If I have to test a muscle I have not done in a while, I immediately go to this book. Highly recommended if you perform EMGs.

I really like the way that the author(s) have layed out this text. I find it very easy to comprehend and review material. The examples and pictures are wonderful. Most of all I love the bonus side stories that coincide with each topic. Would definitely recommend the use of this book.

It would be a service if someone wrote a translation for the less educated amongst us. I know this because our book club read this which propelled me to try to navigate the language and the Latin and Greek references.

If you're looking to build your social media presence, this book is for you! Not only does it describe everything you could possibly want to know about guest blogging, it also includes info about helpful social media and marketing strategies such as building your mailing list, understanding SEO, and building credibility in your area of expertise. The author then provides a step-by-step primer for guest blogging, which is very useful and easy-to-understand.

I had some experience with guest blogging, and this book really enhanced my knowledge on the subject and inspired me to take my guest blogging to the next level. However, the author explains everything so clearly that this would be an awesome first resource for guest blogging newbies as well. Great read!

Must read marketing guide for new businesses

I've heard the term guest blogging before, but the barrier to entry seemed so high (in my mind) that I've never considered it. Until now. Mike Fishbein's book is a clearly laid out marketing plan for new businesses, and he walks through the concept of guest blogging step by step. This book covers the basics of SEO, lays out exactly what guest blogging is, how it can affect traffic to your own website, how it compares to traditional PR, how to find sites looking for guest bloggers, and what to write about. The book does a fantastic job taking the nebulous concept into something concrete and doable. I'm still a bit intimated by the idea, but so much less so than before I read the book. When you start your own business, you are responsible for everything, marketing included, and rich, meaningful how-to guides are an entrepreneur's best friend. This is such a guide. Fishbein also provides a ton of resources throughout the book, so whether you need to back track to get caught up, or want to move ahead, he's got a path for you to follow.
