Adults behaving badly

Loved the first quarter of the book. Human soldiers accompanied by cyborgs go to a planet in preparation for a war. Their aircraft is attacked, supplies are lost and the situation is dire. During the battle the cyborgs gain consciousness. Surviving soldiers and cyborgs take refuge in a cave. Annnnddd.....that's where the good stuff ends.
What's left of the book? Well, they all hang out in the cave for a month or two. Our heroine suspects the cyborg have gained consciousness. Epic, right? So why would someone pretend there is nothing out of the ordinary? Seems cowardly. Events occur that cause the cyborgs and most females to break away from the male soldiers. This is where the fun really begins because both our female and male heros mentally regress to the age of oh, about 13. Our female is a witless and has a penchant for name-calling, "slugging" and other trashy behavior. The men are just as bad; hitting, shoving, and non-stop quibbling (yes, quibbling). Was reminiscent of a daycare center full of badly behaved children.
There is nothing interesting about people who act foolish. Sadly, even the sex was boring. Particularly the scene in which the classless leading lady "does" one of the cyborgs just to "get it over and done with". Wow, really low rent.
For the first time EVER, I returned a book to Amazon. Yeah, it was that bad.

Good but.....

The books are a good read - and it might just be me - but sometimes I felt my attention drifting. Towards the end of her books, sometimes there are several stopping points that seem like - this is where the book should end. But it doesn't. I could just be growing spoiled with faster storylines and more thrilling plot twist of other authors but if I'm selecting books, this author would not be one of my first choices. Good story just feels a bit to slow for me.

This seemed to be an attempt to prolong the popularity of her Cyborg series. It takes you one step before Total Recall, but it is a dry, unexciting tale with nothing, in my opinion, to draw you to the characters. And these are supposed to be sensual stories, at the very least, if not erotic, which most of her other books in the series were. Very disappointing. Time to move on, Ms. O'Connor.
