Nice Collection: Would Have Been Better if in Chronological Order...
By Mike Luoma
Don't get me wrong. I love the stories of Warlock written by Jim Starlin, illustrated by Ron Lim, Angel Medina et al; and I'm happy Marvel has collected these books under one cover. That's the good. The bad?
You sure do have to flip around a lot, back and forth, in the book, if you want to read the stories in chronological order! Marvel has grouped the "Infinity War" miniseries together, followed by the 4 tied-in issues of "Warlock and the Infinity Watch", followed by the Thanos back up features that ran in Marvel Comics Presents. BUT the issues of "Warlock..." occur concurrently with "Infinity War", chronologically "Infinity War" #1 should be followed by "Warlock..." #7, followed by IW #2, followed by W #8,and then IW #3, then the Marvel Comics Presents (Thanos Backup feature), the IW #4, W #9 and so on. The "I Thanos" feature from "Marvel Comics Presents" is problematic, as takes place within the time span of IW #3 (within a panel of that issue, even) and overlaps with W #8. The Thanos Christmas story at the TPB's end? I'm not even sure when or where that is.
Marvel has released their X-Men "Age of Apocalypse" Trade Paperbacks in chronological order. It's a shame they couldn't do the same for "Infinity War".

How NOT to draw comics the Marvel way!
By D.A. Antonie
First off, ultimately enjoyable cosmic Marvel fare but not as epic as the original Secret Wars or the original Infinity Gauntlet. The only real bummer (and it's a bad one) is the overall drawing. It was a real shock (!) to see just how amateurish the rendering of these legendary characters were at the hand of Lim (who did a good job with Perez in the original Infinity Gauntlet). The elongated facial structure of human characters like Captain America were sickening to behold. I was depressed to see one of my favorites, Dr Doom, degenerate into a 3rd grader's tracing paper experiment. Only did Spider-Man, Thanos and Galactus escape this tragedy and looked decent enough to pass as respectable. Also absolutely no shading or variants in the line work...all flat.
That said, the artwork improved alot in the last couple Infinity War issues. I mean it look really good. I actually didn't mind the addendum at the end consisting of Infinity Watch issues and Wolverine issues that gave insight to and that explained pretty important events between the main issues of Infinty War. It would have made better sense to include them between their respected issues but perhaps the differing style was thought to be a hindrance to the main Infinity War series. BTW - the extra issues were excellently drawn and written!!!!

An infinite war with meh
By Jeffrey Daniels
I have been filling in TPB collection holes to avoid digging through boxes of old comics when I need to reread an old storyline (such as with the Marvel Movies now heading towards these old Warlock tales).
I had forgotten just how meh these stories were. Long gone was the wonder and energy of those old Captain Marvel and Strange Tales/Warlock stories. Now it's just like reading about Peter Parker clones...it just gets recycled over and over.
Warlock is one of the great brooding characters Marvel created, going back to the Thomas/Kane era and then on to Starlin. By the time this collection came out, all the uniqueness had bled out and it reads pretty much like a company-wide crossover event. Not like we ever see one of those.
It's fine to read, just nothing memorable.
