Invaluable

Future teachers: read this book cover to cover and you will learn more of value and relevance than in all your books of theories and educational fads. The stories of and by real teachers are often inspiring; the situations they face are usually challenging, and their solutions often ingenious. You will see a lot of different personalities among the teachers and a lot of different types of students -- more than you might see in a lifetime of real teaching. Highly recommended.

For anyone thinking of becoming a teacher, reading this book is a MUST. I'm currently training as a student teacher, and reading this book has helped me build my teaching philosophy as well as understand the trails of being a teacher. Most teaching literature always tells you the pros, but this one also spells out the cons.
