A Ghetto Love Story is the story of what happens when a young girl raised up in the suburbs gets rudely introduced to the darker side of existence. Not only does Tia go looking for her father at the wrong time (in the middle of a bloody street war), but she also winds up becoming emotionally attached to a young gang leader in a way that will without doubt change her life forever.
This book should not be confused with other current Urban/Street Lit books on the market. A Ghetto Love Story is intended to be a very realistic look into the pain and misery of the African-American street culture. Although the story line contains hard language and extreme violence—which is simply part and parcel of street life—it likewise contains an underlying message of love and hope.

Should have been a 5 star read

I've previously read stories by Percy Levy and fallen in love with the characters, the message, and his writing. I expected to have the same feeling towards this book and was extremely disappointed.
I will say the storyline and characters are great and I have no complaints at all. I especially love Casper and the many facets of his personality and persona.
My complaints: overall lack of editing. Most is minor and while irritating not distracting. Except, that the characters names are messed up through the book causing you to have to reread once you figure out who's really talking. You have a character called Kevy Kev who is shot, except after that scene he's called Lil' Mikey for the rest of the book.
That brings me to my second and biggest complaint. Just when the book starts to pick up and take off, it ends. I'm so sick of these half books being called part 1 to forever. If you want a short story fine, and least give it a decent ending, don't just stop.My guess is this was one complete fantastic novel the publisher chopped in half.
Leo Sullivan's company used to put out such fantastic books. Stories and quality were far above the competition, but now they are just like every other mass producing Internet publisher. The publisher really failed the author on this one!
I would not recommend this book until it's edited and rereleased. Once that happens it will be a wonderful, emotional, enlightening read.

A Ghetto Love Story

This was my first read by Percy and I can honestly say not bad. The only confusing part for me was the beginning when Ebony and Murk were introduced. I felt like more should've been stated about them instead of them just popping back up out of nowhere. Tia was persistent in knowing more about her father but Black was tripping bad. I thought for sure Case was a crooked cop but I understood where he was coming from a little. I liked Casper and the way he thought. Even though he was a street dude many people mistakenly let his lifestyle define who he was and passed judgment. Sneaky T was something else but you couldn't fault him for trying to look out for his longtime friend. Havoc wasn't as hard as he thought he was and had to see first hand the life he was trying to portray. It took some things going down but I liked the understanding between Tia and Casper. Hopefully a lot more answers will be uncovered in the next installment and things won't get too chaotic. Will Black give Tia all the answers she's seeking, has Case made a mistake with the his last decision, just how much trouble will Casper cause after everything that has occurred, what will become of Tia and Casper, and will Black's love for his daughter finally outweigh all the wrongs he's done and make him get right???

Okay so at the beginning I was totally confused because it started out with Ebony.Then went into something way different.The book was overall good and shocking.But I don't think that it showed a lot of why Ebony was in the book at all.I definitely love how Tia loves her dad regardless of wat has happen in her life.Officer Case is cray I can't believe the things he is doing.Casper is so adorable to Tia I do believe there is going to be something there.Well I can't wait to read part two
